Is your outfit show worthy?
The best way to know if your show outfit is up to par is to compare it to the top 10 winners at any major show (World Show, Congress, Southern Belle, Reichert, ect.). If your show clothing falls short of those standards, you need to rethink your attire.
I’m sure your first thought is “I don’t have thousands to spend on show cloths”. Yes, the clothing worn by the top competitors are worth thousands, and look like it too. You should look at spending no less than $50 for a fashionable top. Chaps will run around $100, and the hat is an investment all in itself. You should invest in a good hat for $50 or more. Boots can always be covered by chaps when you are in the saddle, so unless you are showing at Fort Worth, you can get by with classic black boots. Here are a few more tips for a classic wardrobe…
1.NO JEANS! Jeans in an arena scream bad fashion choice.
2.Do Not Tuck. Resist the urge to tuck in your show shirt. If it is too long and bulges when you sit it should be hemmed. By leaving your shirt untucked you create a long skinny look.
3.Always make sure your hat still has a crisp, sharp shape to it.
4.Keep the makeup natural. Judges hate to see bold makeup choices in the show ring. Remember, they should be looking at your horse, not your face.
5.Always have a beautiful saddle blanket to finish off the look. The blanket should complement your whole look, and look great on your horse. Your horse will look ready to compete when you have a crisp bright saddle blanket.
