Why did I receive an email from the site admin when I said I did not want them?

Unchecking the “Receive email from site admins” box in your email preferences only unsubscribes you from routine emails. In the event of major changes to the site that affect all members (such as significant changes in site functionality and/or a change to the privacy policy or terms of use), admin will send out an email to all members, regardless of their preferred settings.

In over a year and a half of running the site, we have sent out one email to all members, due to significant changes in the site functionality.
