Privacy Policy
We respect and value your privacy as much as you do; this privacy policy is intended to let you know what information we gather from site visitors and how we use such information.
All Site Visitors
Our statistics programs track the usage of the site. To do this, they may place a small file (called a cookie) on your computer. They collect general information on site visits, including visit duration, pages viewed, and referring site. They do not gather personal information (such as your name, gender, or email address) from your computer. We do log your IP address, which is a unique number given to your computer by your ISP, but we cannot tell from looking at an IP address who you are or what your address is.
We may share general statistics information with third parties, but if we do so it will always be in aggregate, non-personally-identifying form—the total number of visitors per day, for example, or the average number of page views per visit.
Site Members
When you join our site, you are required to provide a valid email address. We do not automatically subscribe members to any site newsletters, and your email address is only used to contact you with specific information about your account or in cases where a major change to the site needs to be communicated to all members. We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise provide our members’ email addresses to third parties.
Blog Profiles
When submitting a blog profile, certain fields lend themselves to providing personally-identifying information. However, you are not required to submit any personally-identifying information with the blog profile. The “Author” field, for example, may be left blank or a screen name may be used in place of your real name. If you do provide any personally-identifying information in your blog’s profile, you acknowledge that the information will be displayed publicly on our website.
If you are submitting a third-party blog that is not your own, you must only submit information that can be found on that blog. For instance, if you know the author’s real name but they write the blog under a screen name, you must supply the screen name in the “Author” field.
Newsletter Recipients
We offer a low-volume newsletter to keep interested parties up-to-date on events here at Horse Bloggers. You do not have to be a site member to receive the newsletter, and site members are not automatically enrolled--everyone must opt-in to the newsletter. Mailing list addresses are kept separate from other email addresses used on the site, and they are used only in conjunction with the mailing list. We will not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise provide our mailing list to third parties, nor will we advertise for third parties in our monthly mailings. Not now, not ever.
Contact Form Users
Contact form users are required to provide their email address. You may optionally provide other personally-identifying information, such as your name or any other information you may feel is relevant to your comments. Any information provided via the contact form will be used only in relation to the questions/concerns/comments you send us. We don’t automatically sign you up for our newsletter, for example. Your information will not be sold, traded, rented, or otherwise provided to third parties except where agreed to during the course of the email communications.
Exceptions to Third-Party Disclosures
While we are committed to maintaining your privacy, in the event that the site is being abused (or abuse is suspected), we may provide information, including personally-identifying information, to third parties to help identify, track, and halt the abuse. In addition, we will release any information required by law enforcement or other legal authorities.
